Jasmine’s Bio:

Jasmine began tutoring in 2018 with a large education company, working with a range of pupils with different confidence levels in maths. This inspired her to start tutoring privately, allowing for more personalised tuition and focusing on problem-solving. From 2020 to 2022, she worked with Durham University’s Levelling Up program and Problem-Solving Matters, tutoring students for university maths admission tests and running workshops for talented sixth formers. She is currently working as an academic marker at Durham University (providing feedback on maths assignments) and as a tutor for Chess in Schools and Communities. Jasmine is an avid chess player, and loves going into primary schools to spread her enthusiasm for chess. Both maths and chess are often seen as purely logical pursuits, but she believes creativity is just as important. Jasmine will help your child love maths and develop a lifelong mathematical confidence.

Mathematical Interests:

  • Favourite area of mathematics: number theory, which is all about discovering patterns

  • Biggest maths hero: Evariste Galois, who died in a duel aged only 20, after staying up all night before the duel writing down his mathematical discoveries!
